The MacArthur Memorial offers unpaid internships to qualified candidates.
The main prerequisite is a passion for history, and students with an interest in education,
marketing, archival work, exhibit planning, podcasting and/or web design are encouraged to apply.
The Memorial offers a small number of internships in the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
Internships are offered in the following areas:
Archives
- Catalogue books, maps, photographs and documents
- Create inventories and finding aids for future researchers
- Scan and document photographs and other materials
Education Department
- Write articles for the Memorial’s E-Newsletter
- Assist in creating new education programs
- Assist in the production of the Memorial’s monthly Podcast
- Event Planning
Curatorial
- Cataloging collection items
- Researching selected artifacts, photographs, etc.
Competitive candidates will have an interest in history and museum operations,
and will be able to commit to a work schedule of at least 10 hours a week.
Competitive candidates will also possess:
- excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
- basic knowledge of U.S. and/or World History 1861-1964
Eligibility
Internships are open to current college students, recent graduates, and graduate students.
